[VIDEO] How the Four Delta T’s Impact Data Center Cooling Optimization13 min read

A very valuable way to understand data center cooling optimization is to look at the four delta T’s (ΔT’s) in the computer room. Two of these ΔT’s are more commonly known, while the other two are less commonly known. Most people will be focused on one or the other of the more commonly known ΔT’s – IT folks will be focused on the temperature change as air moves through the IT equipment, while the mechanical folks will be focused on the temperature change as air moves through the cooling units. While both of these ΔT’s are important to look at, the less commonly known ΔT’s (the temperature change from IT equipment exhaust to cooling units and the temperature change from the cooling unit supply to IT equipment intake) are just as important to look at, especially when optimizing the cooling infrastructure of the room.
